My definition of courage is to be mentally strong, and to have a positive attitude toward everything you do. You also would not be afraid of things you are faced with. Mrs. Dubose was courageous because she was able to face that she was going to die soon. And that is very extraordinary.

Kaitlin, that is a great definition of courage. I think that courage is a quality that allows one to face difficulty or challenge without fear. I, too, think that Mrs. Dubose was courageous because she was able to come to terms with her death. She also showed courage because she opened her home up to Jem and Scout, exposing herself to them. In doing that, she showed the children courage by example.
