Chapter One: When Jem ran away after slapping the Radley house, I'm not sure he himself even knew what he was afraid of. Yes, there was the tale of the eerie Boo Radley, and the mysterious secrets behind his life, but Jem had know way of proving any of these rumors. I guess what he truly did fear was fear itself.

I totally agree with you. I think Jem was just afraid of himself and the mystery of the mystery of the Radley house. I think he was afraid of Boo Radley before even knowing him. Great comments.
